St. George’s Independent School seeks a passionate, entrepreneurial, and hard-working individual who is energized by work with students and families to serve as an Upper School History Teacher beginning August 2022.

Type: Salary

Duration: Annual letter of agreement

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education or history; master’s degree in the teaching of history preferred

The successful candidate will possess skills and experience that would include the ability to:

·         teach history using a thematic approach for deeper understanding of history and geography and be able to offer specialized electives in several areas

·         be a compelling storyteller who helps students understand how the influence of individuals and communities have shaped the direction of civilizations throughout history

·         serve as an advisor for a small group of students, with a focus on the physical, social, and academic wellness of each person

·         attend overnight trips, chaperone student programs, and perform supervisory duties as needed

Physical Requirements: Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and interact with campus visitors as well as others who telephone. Must have the ability to understand and present materials and communicate with constituents and co-workers in a harmonious manner.

Student Life: Candidates who can demonstrate significant past experience in leading co-curricular programs (athletics, clubs, student government) are preferred.
