Position Overview

The principal directs the activities of the campus school in our residential treatment facility to provide instruction and care for youth.

Essential Duties including the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Confers with teaching staff and treatment team members to supervise planning of educational progress regarding child’s behavioral or learning needs
Reviews and evaluates facility activities to ensure conformance to state and local regulations and to policies and procedures of accreditation agencies.
Supervises the design and implementation of individual and group educational programs.
Manages supervisors who supervise employees in the campus school and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Assists with IEP and 504 process for all students

Requirements

A Master’s degree in education is strongly preferred
A Bachelors degree in education with appropriate active certification/Licensure is required

At least 3 years of teaching experience required
At least 6 months supervisor experience in an education setting is required, 1 year preferred
Experience in special education or teaching experience in a clinical environment strongly preferred.
Experience working with at-risk youth strongly  preferred
