Porter-Leath Kicks Off Women’s History Month with America’s Youngest Certified Teacher

The public is invited to join Porter-Leath’s celebration of Women’s History Month with a Meet and Greet, featuring Shania Muhammad, who became America’s youngest certified full-time teacher at age 16. Miss Muhammad is dedicated to inspiring and empowering students through education, and her dynamic approach, fueled by academic excellence and real-world experiences, makes her a remarkable educator shaping young lives. This event is free and open to the public.

Enjoy a Meet and Greet with Shania Muhammad

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Longstanding child and family service organization, Porter-Leath, is inviting the public to celebrate Women’s History Month, at a Meet and Greet with Shania Muhammad, who became America’s youngest certified full-time teacher at age 16.

The Meet and Greet is sponsored by Berean Missionary Baptist Church and is Friday, March 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Porter-Leath’s Early Childhood Academy in South Memphis at 628 Alice Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38106. What sets Miss Muhammad apart is her remarkable journey. Miss Muhammad earned two associate degrees by the age of 14, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Consumer Science/Child Development at age 15. Now, at 16 years old, she is the youngest certified teacher in America and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Summa Cum Laude graduate of Langston University is the accomplished author of “READ WRITE LISTEN 13 in College How I Did It” and the CEO of Smart Girl Clothing. With a passion for teaching, she gained valuable experience through internships, including the Thurgood Marshall National Teacher Professional Development Program.

Her youthful perspective uniquely equips her to understand the challenges of contemporary students, particularly in navigating the impact of social media on learning. Miss Muhammad is dedicated to inspiring and empowering students through education, and her dynamic approach, fueled by academic excellence and real-world experiences, makes her a remarkable educator shaping young lives.
