Empower Memphis Career and College Prep, EMCCP, is an
innovative K-8 charter school dedicated to providing high-quality education and career

Position Overview: Empower Memphis is seeking a highly motivated and visionary Founding
Director of Operations and Culture to play a pivotal role in establishing and sustaining a
positive and effective school culture. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of operational
expertise and a passion for creating a nurturing and empowering learning environment for
students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:
● Develop and implement efficient and effective operational systems and procedures to
ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the school.
● Oversee facilities management, transportation logistics, and other operational aspects to
create a safe and conducive learning environment.
● Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and manage the school budget, ensuring
financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation.
Cultural Development:
● Lead the development and implementation of a positive and inclusive school culture that
aligns with Empower Memphis’ mission and values.

● Foster a sense of community and belonging among students, staff, and families through
engagement initiatives and community-building activities.
● Implement restorative practices and conflict resolution strategies to maintain a positive
and respectful school climate.

Staff Development and Management:
● Support with recruiting, hiring, and training a high-performing team of administrative and
support staff.
● Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to staff members to enhance
their skills and contribute to a positive school culture.
● Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to ensure the
professional growth of team members.
Collaboration and Community Engagement:
● Collaborate with parents, community organizations, and other stakeholders to build
strong partnerships that support the school’s mission and goals.
● Represent Empower Memphis in community events and engage in outreach activities to
promote the school and its programs.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, or a related field (Master’s
degree preferred).
● Proven experience in school operations, including budget management and facilities
oversight.
● Demonstrated success in building and sustaining a positive school culture.
● Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Commitment to educational equity and a passion for empowering students from diverse
backgrounds.
