About Empower Memphis:
Empower Memphis Career and College Prep (EMCCP) is an innovative K-8 charter school
dedicated to providing high-quality education and career preparation for students in the
Memphis community. Committed to fostering a culture of excellence, empowerment, and

Position Overview:

Empower Memphis is seeking a highly motivated and visionary Founding
Head of Schools to play a pivotal role in establishing and sustaining a positive and effective
school culture. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of operational expertise and a
passion for creating a nurturing and empowering learning environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership:
● Develop and implement a comprehensive, innovative, and standards-aligned
curriculum that meets the needs of a diverse student population.
● Lead the design and implementation of instructional strategies that promote
student engagement, critical thinking, and a love of learning.
● Establish and maintain a data-driven culture, using assessment data to drive
instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
Staff Development:
● Recruit, hire, and lead a team of dedicated and highly qualified educators.
● Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance
instructional practices and stay abreast of best practices in education.
● Foster a collaborative and supportive culture that encourages continuous
improvement and a shared commitment to student success.

Student Support and Success:
● Implement strategies to support the academic and social-emotional development
of all students.
● Oversee the development and implementation of support services, interventions,
and enrichment programs to meet the diverse needs of students.
● Monitor and analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement
and implement targeted interventions.

Community Engagement:
● Build strong relationships with students, families, and the broader community to
create a positive and supportive school culture.
● Collaborate with parents, community organizations, and other stakeholders to
foster a sense of community and engagement.
● Represent Empower Memphis in community events and initiatives to promote
the school’s mission and values.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, or a related field (Master’s
degree preferred).
● Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in educational leadership, including
experience as a principal or school leader.
● Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and implementing innovative
instructional practices.
● Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and data-driven
decision-making.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
