Beacon College Prep opened in 2020 with two kindergarten and one first-grade class in the Raleigh area of Memphis and has since grown to educate 324 scholars in grades K-5. The school was founded on the belief that all students, regardless of their previous education or the zip code they were born into, can learn and achieve at high levels when held to the highest expectations. Our mission is to create an academically rigorous, purposefully structured, and joyful community so we can prepare all scholars to succeed academically and contribute positively to their communities.

Our focus on rigorous academics and character development will provide our scholars with an educational experience that prepares them for success in school, college, and life. The Music Teacher must create rigorous, engaging, and creative lessons that include music history and theory at age-appropriate levels.
Job Responsibilities:
- Creates a classroom that is rigorous, engaging, structured, and joyful
- Internalizes and executes daily lesson plans that are differentiated to ensure all students reach their end-of-year academic goals
- Uses data to drive instruction by regularly analyzing data, studying student work, and implementing the highest leverage instructional strategies to maximize student achievement
- Participates in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
- Regularly implements feedback with grace and urgency with scholar achievement in mind
- Deeply understand the Tennessee Academic Standards for Fine Arts Education and design compelling learning experiences for all students K-5.
- Establish clear learning targets and lesson plans for every lesson.
- Build rigorous and aligned assessments, administer district assessments, and consistently implement instructional best practices.
- When possible, make genuine curriculum connections with other academic subjects in instruction.
- As provided under the TN Academic Standards for Fine Arts “Perform” domain, the Music teacher will present 3-4 concerts/performances outside school hours each school year.
Job Qualifications
- By the time of employment, a Bachelor’s degree is required
- Valid State Certification is highly preferred but not required
- 2+ years of fine arts experience
- Experience in an urban public school is preferred but not required
