Beacon College Prep is hiring for two behavior interventionist positions – one for grades K-2 and another for grades 3-5.
About Us:
Beacon College Prep opened in 2020 with two kindergarten and one first-grade class in the Raleigh area of Memphis and
has since grown to educate 324 scholars in grades K-5. The school was founded on the belief that all students, regardless of
their previous education or the zip code they were born into, can learn and achieve at high levels when held to the highest
expectations. Our mission is to create an academically rigorous, purposefully structured, and joyful community so we can
prepare all scholars to succeed academically and contribute positively to their communities.
Job Description: Every child deserves a high-quality education, regardless of race, gender, socio-economic
background, home language, or disability. Our commitment to rigorous academics and character development
prepares our scholars for success in school, college, and life. The Behavior Interventionist will support our initiatives by
implementing positive behavior support programs and working directly with identified elementary scholars who need
significant supplemental behavioral interventions. Under the supervision of the Head of School, the Behavior
Interventionist will develop and apply targeted strategies and activities to enhance these scholars’ academic
performance.
Job Responsibilities:
● Create a classroom environment that is rigorous, engaging, structured, and joyful.
● Implement behavioral interventions to enhance student learning time and minimize time spent outside the
classroom.
● Reinforce behavioral and operational systems across all classrooms and school spaces.
● Communicate regularly with families about student progress, emphasizing the belief that “it takes a village” to
support each child.
● Assist with school-wide transitions and routines.
● Track student behaviors and the corresponding consequences.
● Intervene in situations involving significant student disruptions.
● Collaborate with the school psychologist to develop individualized behavior plans.
● Supervise students during lunch and recess.
● Enforce uniform compliance among students.
● Plan and lead Beacon’s Community Meeting bi-weekly.
● Teach character education in every class once a week.
● Ensure that teachers consistently reinforce the pillars of character education.
● Attend grade-level meetings as needed to address trends in student behavior.
Job Qualifications:
● By the time of employment, a Bachelor’s degree is required
● Valid State Certification is highly preferred but not required
● Experience in an urban public school is preferred but not required
Salary & Benefits:
We are hiring for two behavior interventionist positions – one for grades K-2 and another for grades
3-5. The salary range for these positions is $50,000 to $55,000, depending on experience.
