Counselor Pay & Perks:
• Intentionally small school settings – Binghampton has only about 225 students in total, and one classroom per grade level
• Collaborative professional development (PLCs) supported by a network-level Director of Student Supports and Director of Vision

Counselor Qualifications:
• REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree
• REQUIRED: valid Tennessee teaching license for School Counsleor (endorsement #487)

Counselor Primary Responsibilities:
• Support and contribute to a school-wide focus on three pillars: academic excellence, values-based character education, and service learning in the community.
• Establish a supportive, joyful, and hopeful culture that has high expectations for students’ individual and collective success.
• Plan and implement the school’s guidance program focused on improving students’ academic, social, and emotional skills.
• Counsel students individually and in groups, based on students’ differentiated needs.
• Provide mediation for students, as needed, to help students successfully navigate challenging circumstances.
• Administer assessments to determine students’ academic, social, and emotional strengths and areas of need.
• Analyze various data to help inform students’ counseling needs.
• Refer students and families to various school, district, and community service providers as needed.
• Carefully monitor students’ educational plans and progress in collaboration with staff and service providers.
• Communicate regularly with families as partners in the education of their children.
• Carefully manage students’ confidential files.
