About Us:

The Influence1 Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was organized exclusively for purposes to include educational management, community engagement and economic development. Initiated as a philanthropic measure of its founder, Influence1 has grown to serve the local community in multiple capacities with varying programs geared for community and youth enrichment.

In addition to its charter schools, City University School of Liberal Arts, City University School Boys Preparatory, City University School Girls Preparatory, and City University School of Independence, Influence1 is also responsible for the 38106 Joint Agency Collaborative, 1Urban Gallery, and the Memphis Starts With Me community program.

City University Schools

City University Schools is a network of open-enrollment college preparatory schools established under Tennessee charter school laws in under-resourced communities throughout the state.

Since its founding in 2004, City University Schools strives to meet the need of public education as well as the demand for alternative institutions committed to post-secondary preparation.

Each school operates on the principles of providing a valuable, well-rounded academic experience through the support of a diverse and dedicated group of qualified educators and administrative staff, an extended school year and rigorous college preparatory curriculum.

Mission

City University Schools will prepare its students with the necessary skills to be twenty-first century scholars and citizens. As college preparatory schools operating as Centers of Excellence for Student Development, City University Schools will provide academically rigorous and socially enriching educational opportunities for its scholars. Upon graduation, these scholars will be better prepared to enter secondary education and
college as intellectually sophisticated citizens with vigor for learning.

Position Goal

To provide support for faculty through assessment efforts to include data collection and curriculum alignment. In turn, provide support for students through remediation programs and integration services that enhance student achievement and progress.

Responsibilities

The Dean of Scholars shall:

  1. Supervise assigned professional, administrative and support staff members, including establishing staffing standards, organizing, selecting or recommending selection, assigning and evaluating work. Prepares periodic employee performance evaluations.
  2. Be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the attendance and tardy polices and work closely with the school President, Professors and Parents/Guardians to address the reasons for truancy.
  3. Develops and implements staff training and development of programs and opportunities.
  4. Oversee/Coordinate Parent Advisory Council
  5. Be responsible for the enforcement of student discipline.
  6. Be responsible for the development, implementation, and enforcement of school rules and regulations.
  7. Establish and maintain plans and actions to accomplish school goals; establishes school calendars and schedules.
  8. Coordinate all emergency drills (i.e., fire, bus, tornado, etc.) and update and implement the school’s emergency management plan.
  9. Assists in coordinating and implementing required standardized testing programs.
  10. Provides and develops Freshman & Sophomore field experience, extracurricular activities, special programs and events.
  11. Receives and responds to inquires, concerns and complaints from teachers, students and parents; works to resolve administrative, instructional and behavioral problems.
  12. Performs various administrative/office duties as necessary, including preparing reports and correspondence, compiling information and data for reports, copying and filing documents, receiving and responding to emails in a timely manner.
  13. Participate in scholar recruitment
  14. Attends classes, training, workshops and conferences as appropriate or necessary to maintain job knowledge and skills and/or required certifications.
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Support staff and extra-curriculum programs and staff.

Campus President

Terms of Employment

This is a 12-month year-round position. All contractual information shall be outlined in the contract between the Campus President and the City University Schools Board of Trustees. The President shall be evaluated in accordance with Board policy.
