Part-time Music & Movement Teacher

Hutchison School, a PK2-12 school for girls, seeks a part-time music and movement teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. This position will teach two year olds through second grade. A successful candidate will have experience teaching the foundations of music to young children and prepare students for holiday or special event concerts. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing activities that are focused on movement for the early childhood classes. Candidates should be conversant with current practices in vocal music training, culturally responsive teaching, and willing to collaborate on creative endeavors with and for the girls. Most teachers also supervise and perform duties such as carpool, special event supervision, and class trip chaperoning, as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching music and movement to young children in an independent school setting and will be comfortable teaching girls in a student-centered environment. They will also be adept at playing an accompanying instrument. Training in Orff Schulwerk is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and advanced degrees are preferred. Candidates should be passionate about both the field of music and the equitable development of adolescent girls.
