Position Overview:
The Dean of K-2 will be responsible for fostering a strong academic and cultural foundation for students in grades K-2. This individual will serve as the instructional and cultural leader for early elementary grades, supporting teachers, students, and families to ensure high levels of achievement and positive social-emotional development. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and experienced educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to empowering students during their foundational years.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership:

• Support teachers in the planning and delivery of high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in K-2 classrooms.
• Conduct regular classroom observations and provide actionable coaching and feedback.
• Use student achievement data to inform instructional support and guide interventions.
• Ensure developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive instructional practices are in place.

School Culture and Student Support:

• Build a joyful, structured, and supportive culture for K-2 students aligned with the school’s mission and values.
• Implement behavior management systems that foster a positive and safe environment.
• Promote social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and restorative practices in early grades.
• Lead grade-level community circles, celebrations, and character-building initiatives.

Staff Support and Development:

• Provide instructional coaching, professional development, and support for K-2 teaching staff.
• Partner with teachers to set academic and behavioral goals for individual students and classrooms.
• Collaborate with school leadership to support teacher growth and retention.

Family and Community Engagement:

• Build strong relationships with families through regular communication, parent-teacher meetings, and family engagement events.
• Collaborate with families to support students’ academic and behavioral success.
• Serve as a resource for parents regarding school procedures, expectations, and student progress.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in elementary education.
• Demonstrated success in supporting instructional improvement and student achievement.
• Experience with early childhood or primary-grade teaching and learning.
• Strong understanding of child development, early literacy, and effective behavior management.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Passion for equity, inclusion, and closing achievement gaps.
