Elementary Music Teacher
Reports To
School Principal/Assistant Principals
Essential Responsibilities:
● Demonstrate a love for God and His children
● Demonstrate a relentless commitment to the mission of NHCA
● Project a positive image of NHCA and a cooperative spirit at all times
● Teach music classes to early childhood and elementary-aged children that mixes music appreciation with basic skill development, focusing on vocal and simple instrumental music with special attention to rhythm, musicality, and the ability to listen to others and play as a cohesive group.
● Promote a life-long appreciation and love of music in early childhood and elementary students.
● Work collaboratively with the School Principal, Assistant Principals, Director of Technology, Communications Director and teachers to plan music and student performances for chapel, Grandparent’s Day, Christmas program, Easter program, sixth grade graduation
● Collaborate with homeroom teachers, art teacher, and other specialists to develop cross-curricular ties in lessons and projects
● Develop and practice cultural competence in program development, instruction, and in relationships with school personnel, students, and families
● Exhibit a growth mindset about teaching practices and work toward professional goals and development
● Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the administration
● Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is age-appropriate
● Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in music education or music
● Teacher licensure preferred
● Orff Schulwerk certification preferred
● Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position
● Have a track record of holding high expectations for every student and faithfully working to foster student development and achievement
