    The Restorative Practice Specialist is a direct service position for an energetic professional interested in developing, delivering, and implementing restorative practices at Frayser Community Schools. Restorative Practice is a community based approach used to strengthen communities, repair harm and restore relationships when wrongdoings occur. It is based on a core set of principles that emphasize healing and repair over punishment, inclusion over exclusion, and individual accountability with a high level of community support.

    The Restorative Practice Specialist must have a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach and philosophy when working with all people. The Restorative Practice Specialist will work as part of a team to provide training, consultation, and service delivery to support the implementation and application of restorative practices within school and community settings. This position will be responsible for providing direct service to those who have been impacted by trauma including students, parents, school staff, and community members.

    The Restorative Practice Specialist will work directly with the School Social Worker, Professional School Counselor(s), Behavior Specialist Consultant, Network Psychologist and the Director of Special Populations and Student Support Services, as part of a team of practitioners, to provide the following services:

    Description of Duties:

    Respond to case and discipline referrals to determine appropriate restorative responses

    Prepare participants and facilitate restorative dialogues, conferences and responsive circles

    Follow up on restorative processes and ensure that all agreements are upheld

    Coordinate program activities including case tracking, scheduling, data tracking and recording

    Collaborate with Directors to improve current programming and develop new opportunities for service delivery

    Maintain and build professional relationships with school community, family, and community/school partners

    Mentor and train school staff

    Model and provide support and coaching to staff and partners

    Collaborate with practitioners to integrate and systematize restorative practice into existing frameworks (i.e. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, trauma-informed approaches, Positive Human Development)

    Work with Directors to provide on-going training and work collaboratively with school leadership

    Provide consultation and support around the implementation plan, policy and system changes, and aligning school culture with restorative practices
