Position Summary:
Grizzlies Prep is committed to meeting the unique needs of each scholar enrolled. To meet the needs of scholars with disabilities, Grizzlies Prep employs a team of special educators who work closely with core content general education teachers.
Reports To: The Director of Scholar Support
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain an IEP caseload in full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local policies
- Develop quality IEPs that ensure scholars with disabilities can fulfill the school’s mission
- Facilitate effective IEP Team Meetings that ensure all members are heard and respected
- Analyze academic and behavioral data to determine scholars’ strengths, needs, and growth
- Design units and lessons, together with core content general education teachers, using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework
- Implement daily lessons, together with core content general education teachers, ensuring that all IEP accommodations, modifications, and services are provided
- Teach general education RTI intervention classes
- Communicate regularly and proactively with scholars, families, and appropriate Grizzlies Prep staff
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A valid TN License for Special Education (or the ability to obtain one)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state special education policy
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills, with both adults and youth
- Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively
