Education Assistant – Prek4 Classroom

STAR Academy Charter School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Pre-K 4 Teaching Assistant to support our Pre-K classroom teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for our youngest STARS.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, understands the importance of early childhood development, and is committed to helping every scholar build the academic, social, emotional, and independence skills needed for kindergarten and beyond.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist the Pre-K teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities.
• Provide individual and small-group support to scholars as directed by the teacher.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Support scholars with transitions, routines, meals, restroom needs, and other daily activities.
• Encourage positive behavior and social-emotional development.
• Supervise scholars during classroom activities, arrival, dismissal, transitions, and other assigned times.
• Assist with preparation of instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom activities.
• Support hands-on, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with scholars, families, and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding scholar information.
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working with preschool or elementary-age children preferred.
• CDA, associate degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a classroom teacher and school team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, nurturing, dependable, and energetic.
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional classroom presence.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of working with young children, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and assisting scholars as needed.
