MTR Is Looking for Memphis’s Next Great Teachers

Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) has spent the last 18 years training teachers to bring excellent, equitable instruction to Memphis classrooms. Their mission is simple: Christian love expressed through equal education. And right now, applications are open for their top-rated teacher residency program.

What You Actually GeT

Here’s what a year with MTR looks like:

Master’s Degree. Earn a free Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) through Lipscomb University alongside your cohort.

Housing Provided. Live with your peers at the Parcels at Crosstown Concourse for free — the same building where you take graduate school classes.

Teaching Internship. Experience an intensive, year-long classroom internship in a mentor teacher’s classroom while being coached by MTR.

Living Stipend. Get paid a $1,300 monthly stipend ($15,600 total) during your residency year to help with living expenses.

TN Teaching License. As you finish your residency year, get hands-on support to apply for and earn your TN Teacher’s License.

Faith-Based Community. Live, work, and study with a group of mission-minded peers who will support you during your teaching career.

Loan Forgiveness. As a teacher in high-need Memphis public schools, you are eligible for multiple student loan forgiveness programs.

Lifelong Friendships. Build lifelong personal and professional relationships with over 800 teachers who have trained before you.

Who Should AppLY

Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree by May 31, 2027
2.75 GPA or higher
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card)
All majors welcome
