The Collegiate School of Memphis is a private, college preparatory school, providing both middle and high school scholars with the highest quality education within a structured and caring environment so that each scholar may fully realize their God-given potential. Our mission is to prepare young ladies and gentlemen for college success within a highly structured, nurturing, Christian environment. Each year Collegiate serves about 365 students in grades 6-12.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day as well as proactive maintenance of the school and will work under the direction of the Dean of Finance & Operations on the Facilities Team. The Maintenance Technician will work alongside the Grounds and Facility Technician to handle all facility-related needs in order for the school to operate efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required with degree, certificate, and/or training in facility maintenance preferred
Experience in facility maintenance required with proven proficiency in at least one technical trade preferred
Capability to perform minor facility repairs with good craftsmanship
Hands-on knowledge and experience in safe operation of tools, machinery, and building equipment
Ability to adapt behavior to function effectively in a school environment
Ability to effectively communicate via telephone, e-mail, written documents, and in-person conversation
Ability to use computers and basic office equipment
Ability to work in indoor and outdoor work environments involving dirt, grass, sun, wetness, fumes, heat, cold, and noise
Ability to walk, stand, balance, climb, lift, carry, bend, stoop, reach above shoulder level, and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to interact in a positive Christian manner with school faculty, staff, students, and guests
Hold a valid driver’s license with no serious violations
Strong interest in being a part of high-performing education environment
Responsibilities
Handle responsive and as-needed maintenance tasks in a timely manner through work order system
Plan, oversee, and perform preventative maintenance tasks on electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural equipment
Plan, oversee, and perform routine maintenance on facilities and facility systems (floors, ducts, pest control, etc.)
Plan, oversee, and perform building improvements and special projects
Respond to urgent safety and/or operational concerns including damage, injury, alarm, and unauthorized access
Set up, arrange, and disarrange furniture and equipment for events both on-campus and off-campus
Handle removal of snow, ice, or debris when necessary for school to be opened safely
Handle all grounds care, including mowing, weed-eating, edging, weed killing, trash pickup, and watering
Regularly inspect buildings and grounds to ensure safe operation, attractive appearance, and clean conditions
Identify and handle needed repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, and wear
Move, assemble, and install various supplies, furniture, and equipment
Coordinate and supervise janitorial service and staff
Coordinate and supervise contractors and vendors providing facility products and services
Solicit and analyze proposals from contractors and vendors
Run errands involving deliveries, pickups, and shopping on behalf of the school
Inventory and order janitorial supplies
Maintain paper and electronic documents, files, and records pertaining to facilities
Work cooperatively with agencies to ensure compliance with code, inspection, and drill regulations
Handle facility needs for property tenants including church sanctuary building and residence
Actively participate in the adult culture of the school by attending faculty meetings, in-service, and school events

Schedule
12-month contract term (year-round)
General school day hours of Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Occasional weekend and evening work required
On call for response to emergency situations
