Position Overview: Empower Memphis Career and College Prep is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Academic Success Coach to support the academic growth and achievement of our students. The Academic Success Coach will work closely with students to provide academic guidance, study skills development, and individualized support to help them excel in their coursework and achieve their educational goals. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

Student Support: Provide personalized academic coaching and support to students, addressing their individual learning needs, challenges, and goals. Offer guidance on study strategies, time management, organization, and test-taking skills to enhance academic performance.
Goal Setting: Collaborate with students to set academic and personal goals, develop action plans, and monitor progress towards achievement. Assist students in identifying strengths, interests, and areas for growth to support their academic success.
Resource Referral: Connect students with appropriate resources and support services, both within the school and in the community, to address academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. Serve as a liaison between students, families, teachers, and support staff to ensure holistic support for student success.
Data Analysis: Collect and analyze student data, including academic assessments, grades, attendance records, and behavior reports, to identify trends, patterns, and areas for intervention. Use data to inform decision-making and develop targeted interventions and support strategies for students.
Individual and Group Support: Conduct individual and group coaching sessions, workshops, and seminars on topics related to academic success, such as goal setting, time management, study skills, and test preparation. Provide ongoing support and encouragement to motivate students and promote self-efficacy.
Progress Monitoring: Track student progress and outcomes, regularly monitoring academic performance, attendance, and behavior. Provide feedback and reinforcement to students on their efforts and achievements, celebrating successes and offering constructive guidance for improvement.
Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school staff to support student success initiatives and promote a positive school culture. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs, share insights, and coordinate interventions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Prior experience working in education or youth development, preferably in a coaching, mentoring, or counseling capacity.
• Knowledge of academic support strategies, learning theory, and best practices in student success coaching.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, motivate students, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
