Position Overview: Empower Memphis Career and College Prep is seeking a dedicated and passionate Career Exploration Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will be committed to guiding students through the exploration of various career pathways, helping them develop essential skills and knowledge for success in the workforce and higher education. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive career exploration curriculum that engages students across different grade levels, incorporating hands-on activities, guest speakers, and experiential learning opportunities.
Career Guidance: Provide individualized career counseling and guidance to students, assisting them in identifying their interests, strengths, and career goals. Offer resources and support for post-secondary education and vocational training programs.
Industry Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and professionals to facilitate student exposure to real-world career experiences, internships, and mentorship opportunities.
Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that introduce students to various industries, career paths, and professional skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace etiquette.
Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student progress in career exploration activities and provide feedback to support their ongoing development. Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of the career exploration program and make adjustments as needed.
Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to integrate career exploration activities into the broader curriculum and reinforce connections between academic learning and real-world applications.
Family Engagement: Communicate regularly with families to involve them in their child’s career exploration journey, providing resources and support for informed decision-making about future career pathways.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four year college or university
  • Active Tennessee teaching license with required endorsement in assigned subject area and grade level
  • Relevant teaching experience, preferably in career exploration, vocational education, or guidance counseling.
  • Strong understanding of career development theory and best practices in career exploration and planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and community partners.
  • Commitment to promoting equity and inclusivity in career exploration and ensuring access to opportunities for all students.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students and create an inclusive learning environment.
