Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools (www.freedomprep.org) is a K-12 charter school in Memphis, TN. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades K-12 to excel in college and in life. Freedom Preparatory Academy opened in August of 2009 with a class of 96 6th graders. We now serve over 2,100 students in grades PreK-12. Our students have exceeded local and state averages in math and local averages in English language arts on the state exam.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Network K-12 Math Curriculum Lead requires particular expertise in Mathematics. The math specialist will develop and/or acquire Common Core aligned curricular resources and be responsible for maintaining an in-depth understanding of Mathematics Standards. It is expected that the specialist will work collaboratively with department leadership and other curriculum specialists in understanding the curriculum, identifying curricular resources and supports.  They will have further responsibility of understanding and assisting in implementing current methodologies, effective instructional strategies and facilitating curriculum-related professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Help create and document an inclusive, equitable, and culturally relevant vision for excellence in mathematics and collaborate with the Managing Director of Teaching and Learning to create the enabling systems to realize the vision.
•Works with other specialists and academic offices to design professional development opportunities for Heads of Schools and Teachers in the use of the curriculum engines and other curricular related resources.
•Assists district level school based instructional specialists, teachers, administrators and other staff as necessary to understand Mathematics needs, innovations, instructional practices, strategies, etc.
•Coordinates the writing and revision of district curricula in Mathematics.
•Serves as a key communicator regarding Mathematics to appropriate audiences.
•Provides leadership and works effectively as part of the Curriculum and Instruction department to enhance cross-discipline integration.
•Design benchmark assessment blueprint and review content to ensure alignment to district scope and sequence.
•Debriefs with leadership staff to analyze and support the instructional practices in schools.
•Plans and administers the implementation of instructional strategies to support academic achievement.
•Create weekly assessments for schools.
•Coach and support Teachers in real-time, model teaching, co teaching, and model planning and navigate curriculum with ease and comfort
•Modeling effective Mathematics teaching practices on a campus or campuses
•Directly and positively impacting Mathematics student achievement
•Developing, refining, and sharing best practices and curricular resources through regular application and reflection
•Creating and managing creation of aligned, effective, and valid unit and semester assessments for all courses to monitor progress towards ambitious student achievement goals
•Be prepared to step into the classroom when need be.
•Internalizing and utilizing up-to-date student achievement data to drive planning and support; communicate key takeaways and recommendations to teachers and leaders

QUALIFICATIONS
•Five years of full-time, experience as a regularly appointed teacher in Mathematics
•Experience supporting teachers in improving instructional practices, participating in curriculum development and providing professional development.
•Proven results in strong instructional practices and leadership.
•Must be a strong problem solver and take initiative.
•Must be able to be able to build strong relationships.
•Must be a content expert and collaborate with the Managing Director of Teaching and Learning and the Chief Academic Officer often.
•Demonstrated commitment to the educational mission, vision, and goals of FP
•Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree strongly preferred
•Excellent communication with experience in leading professional development, public speaking, outreach, and coalition building
•Knowledgeable about effective assessment strategies

REPORTS TO Managing Director of Teaching and Learning
$70,000 – $103,900 a year
Salary range is based on years of experience, years 1-21.
