Lower School Teacher

Elementary Teacher – Lower School (SK-3rd)

Reports To

School Principal/ Assistant Principal

Essential Responsibilities:

● Demonstrate a love for God and His creation

● Actively seek opportunities to disciple students

● Demonstrate a love for working with children

● Demonstrate knowledge of social and emotional development in elementary children

● Demonstrate dedication to knocking down barriers through ensuring equity and access in the classroom and  community

● Create an educational environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the needs of all students

● Deliver explicit direct instruction and focused small group instruction

● Prepare instructional materials and  lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students

● Instruct students using research-based strategies and techniques, in conjunction with the school approved curriculum,to improve the development of academic, cognitive, social, and emotional skills

● Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law and regulations

● Through the use of data, monitor the academic growth of all students and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all  students

● Provide  communication, including newsletters and progress reports, to parents/guardians in a consistent and timely manner

● Establish a standard of classroom behavior; maintain classroom management in and outside of the school that align with the mission and vision of the school

● Collaborate with grade level team and co-curricular colleagues to ensure the development of the whole child.

● Perform other related duties as assigned or directed

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree or higher

● Teacher Licensure preferred

● Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position

● Have a track record of holding high expectations for every student and faithfully working to foster student  development and achievement

● Possess strong content and pedagogical knowledge of foundational literacy and numeracy
