The Collegiate School of Memphis is an independent, private Christian middle and high school in the heart of Memphis, TN.  Our mission is to prepare young ladies and gentlemen for college success within a highly structured, nurturing, Christian environment.  During the 2024-2025 school year, Collegiate will serve over 360 students in grades 6-12.

The School Counselor will work individually and in group settings with students to address various student mental health needs identified by CSM faculty and staff, parents, and/or students themselves. Additionally, the school counselor will be a member of the Foundations team and teach part time. The School Counselor at Collegiate will work under the direction of the Principal and instructional guidance of the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction.

The School Counselor must desire to provide a rigorous college-preparatory educational experience and be dedicated to leading scholars emotionally, socially, and spiritually while upholding global methods, systems, and strategies that support outstanding instruction.  As a data-driven school, Collegiate requires great attention to detail and deadlines as we glean accurate data that informs our instruction.

Qualifications

School Counseling License, Masters of School Counseling, or similar professional degree
Experience in mental health counseling preferred
Experience in education setting preferred
Strong interest in high-performing Christian education

Responsibilities

Industry standard operating procedures related to the field of mental health and counseling support for minors
As appropriate, clear communication with CSM leadership to ensure that the needs of all students under our care are being considered and addressed accordingly
Effective communication with faculty, staff, students, and parents regarding mental health support and strategies for students receiving care
Record keeping in compliance with state and local regulations
Facilitate professional development sessions for faculty, staff, parents and key stakeholders related to student mental health
Teach three (3) Foundations classes per semester in accordance with CSM expectations for curriculum development, instructional best practices, grading responsibilities, and parent communication
Other position-appropriate duties as assigned by the Principal or Head of School

Schedule

Typical 10-month school year contract term (August-May) including holidays and breaks
176 school days per year + up to 10 in-service days per year
General school day hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
