Beacon College Prep Parttime Academic Literacy Interventionist

Beacon College Prep opened in 2020 with two kindergarten and one first-grade class in the Raleigh area of Memphis.  The school was founded on the belief that all students, regardless of their previous education or the zip code they were born into, can learn and achieve at high levels when held to the highest expectations. Beacon College Prep is seeking a Parttime Academic Literacy Interventionist who can direct the academic program activities of K-4 scholars.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Per Title I, academic and behavioral Intervention strategies are necessary to support a scholar’s academic success and social progression.
  • Experience with the development of differentiated academic exercises and class activities.
  • Will support literacy instruction by working with small groups, using digital and print resources, and making data-based decisions. Additional resources will be provided by academic and RTI grouping.
  • Concentrates efforts with small groups of scholars and individuals, as necessary.
  • Compiles prepares, and organizes materials and classrooms for instruction and other learning activities.
  • Assists teachers with academic instruction, transitions, and the instruction of daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.
  • Provides instructional support and reinforcement to scholars who need tutoring services and RTI intervention and supports the RTI fidelity monitoring and related data and systems.

Job Qualifications:

  • By the time of employment, a Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Valid State Certification is highly preferred, but not required
  • Experience in an urban public school is preferred, but not required

Salary & Benefits: Salary range $30,000 – $34,000. This position is not eligible for health benefits. Our staff members are provided a laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary instructional supplies. Beacon is also committed to offering professional development opportunities.

Start Date: This is a 10-month position, starting in July 2023.
