Position Overview: Empower Memphis Career and College Prep is seeking  enthusiastic and dedicated Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade Lead Teachers to join our team. The Lead Teacher will play a critical role in providing high-quality instruction, fostering a positive classroom environment, and promoting the academic and social-emotional development of young learners. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with state standards and school goals. Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of K-2 students.
Instructional Delivery: Deliver effective and differentiated instruction in core subject areas such as literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. Use a variety of instructional strategies, including hands-on activities, small group work, and technology integration, to meet the needs of individual learners.
Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Implement consistent behavior management strategies and promote positive social interactions among students.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Administer assessments, analyze student data, and use assessment results to inform instructional planning and differentiation. Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and families on academic performance and growth.
Parent and Family Communication: Communicate regularly with parents and families to provide updates on student progress, share information about classroom activities and events, and solicit input and feedback. Foster partnerships with families to support student learning and development.
Professional Collaboration: Collaborate with grade-level team members, special education staff, and other stakeholders to coordinate instruction, share best practices, and address the needs of individual students. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Student Support: Provide academic and social-emotional support to students as needed, including interventions for struggling learners and enrichment activities for advanced learners. Collaborate with support staff, such as school counselors and intervention specialists, to address student needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching license or certification for elementary education.
  • Prior experience teaching in a K-2 classroom setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners and create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
